NHRA drag racing champion Antron Brown made an exciting pit stop at Portland Community College’s OMIC Training Center on Monday, Sept. 11. Brown, a trailblazer in the racing world, took a different kind of ride as he toured the state-of-the-art facility, which offers a variety of manufacturing-related training programs ranging from traditional career and technical education training to apprenticeship models that combine on-the-job training with classroom and lab instruction.

Brown engaged with PCC as well as the local community and industrial leaders who are focused on the future of manufacturing in the region. As the first African American champion in drag racing history, with Top Fuel dragster championships in 2012, 2015, and 2016, Brown’s unique perspective brought fresh insights into the manufacturing landscape.
