PCC Students wearing bright red hard hats and yellow vests are catching construction in action at the Southeast Center site this spring term.

Thanks to a collaboration between PCC Community Education, the Bond Program and O’Neill Walsh Community Builders, nine students enrolled in a pilot digital photography class entitled “Building Stories: Photographing PCC Construction Site,” are learning how to develop and refine their photographic composition skills in the context of a dynamic construction site at Southeast Center. As students have full access to the construction site during hours of operation, they are able to capture – from a student’s perspective – Southeast’s transformation into a comprehensive campus.

The PCC Bond Program and Southeast Center will work with the students to publish their work (print and web) and display their works in the new buildings at Southeast.

With high interest in the class this term and positive responses from current students, PCC will be offering the Community Education photography course again this summer.  The class will meet on Wednesdays, 2:00 – 3:50 pm over a period of six weeks. Click here to view informational flyer.

Photo gallery in this post features the first round of the students’ work. Photographers include:  Bernie Doran, Chris Gaede, Jaimee Lynch, Leo Li,  Marty Crisp, Michael Horodyski and Patrick McGovern.

PCC’s 2008 voter-approved $374 million bond program is increasing opportunities for residents to access quality, affordable higher education close to where they live and work. Additional classrooms, updated equipment and technology, and advanced workforce training programs are helping to pave the way for future employment options.
