PCC wants to pamper you like a diva

Photos and Story by

PORTLAND, Ore. — At this event, it’s okay to be a diva.

Portland Community College in partnership with the two year college honor society Phi Theta Kappa will host the Second Annual Spa Diva Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 in the CC Building cafeteria at the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. Spa Diva Day will treat women to two hours of spa treatments such as foot and hand soaks, facials, makeovers, and aromatherapy for only $20. In addition, there will be a silent auction, refreshments, crafts bazaar and prizes.

The event is raising funds through the American Cancer Society to help cancer patient Linda Hummer build a trust fund for her kids. Hummer has battled cancer for the past six years and the prognosis is not good. Her wish is to leave a trust fund for her children so that they can improve their lives through education. Hummer served as director of programs and student body president when she attended PCC. She now has earned her master’s degree and teaches at Portland State University. Also, Phi Theta Kappa’s goal is to make a difference in the life of one community member and students in the PCC chapter are honored to aid a person such as Hummer.
