Entry-level training available for microelectronics

BEAVERTON, Ore. – The Portland Community College Microelectronics Technology department, is currently recruiting for an upcoming Microelectronics Employment Skills Training certificate program that begins Jan. 3, 2005.The program is a state-approved, short-term training certificate program, awarded by PCC. It prepares students for entry-level positions in the microelectronics industry, or entrance into PCC’s Microelectronics Technology associate’s degree program.Prospective students can attend an orientation in Room 1535 at the Capital Career Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road. The orientations are from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 3, 10, 17, 24, and Dec. 1 and 8.The certificate consists of six classes worth 18 credits that can be taken over two terms. Six of the credits can be transferred to the degree program. Prerequisites include college placement evaluation of Writing 115 and Math 65.The cost of the program will be approximately $1,500. Tuition assistance may be available through the Capital Career Center, however individuals must meet program eligibility requirements.
