?Pacific Challenge' features rivers, mountains of Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore. – By land or on water, it’s your time to conquer the Pacific Northwest. This summer, Portland Community College will offer Pacific Challenge Outdoor Week, a non-credit class that hones your skills in kayaking, rafting, biking and rock climbing. Instructor Dave Wright will lead students to discover the best of the Northwest outdoors. Learn to kayak the MacKenzie, white water raft the White Salmon, mountain bike the Gorge and rock climb Smith Rock. The class includes an overnight camping trip in Bend. Whether experienced or beginner, all are welcome. If you’ve always wanted to truly experience Oregon’s outdoors, this is your class, says Cecelia Barry, PCC Community Education manager. In just one week you will build the skills you need for a lifetime of invigorating activity among some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. This class will take place Tuesday, July 20 through Friday, July 23, with a one-day orientation class from 7 to 9 p.m., on Thursday, July 8, in Room 304 of PCC’s Central Portland Workforce Training Center, 1626 S.E.
