PCC holds forums to meet district president candidates

PORTLAND, Ore. – All three PCC campuses will hold forums to meet the three finalists for the district president of Portland Community College. The forums are open to the public and to staff and will be held Monday, March 1 through Wednesday, March 3.

Dr. Daniel LaVista will visit on Monday, Dr. James Middleton will visit Tuesday, and on Wednesday, Dr. Preston Pulliams is scheduled.

Each of the forums will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room B at the Sylvania Campus (12000 S.W. 49th Ave.); 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Room 114 of Building 3 at the Rock Creek Campus (17705 N.W. Springville Rd.); and 2:40 to 3:40 p.m. in Terrell Hall 122 at the Cascade Campus (705 N. Killingsworth St.).

Forms will be provided at the events in order to give comments on the candidates to the PCC board before their meeting on March 4 to discuss the finalists. The board hopes to have the district president position filled by late March, with a start date in July.

Portland Community College is the largest post-secondary educational institution in Oregon, enrolling 100,000 students annually, and operating three comprehensive campuses along with five workforce training and education centers, a small business development center and education outlets in hundreds of community and business locations. The college offers 70 associate degree, certificate and career training programs in areas ranging from aviation technology to veterinary technology, plus 40 different types of college transfer courses and programs. It is the most diverse college in the state.
