PCC offers Peruvian cooking lessons at Pearl District hot-spot

PORTLAND, Ore. – You’ve been to trendy hot-spot restaurants in the Pearl – now you have the opportunity to cook like them. PCC will serve up a new non-credit class in Peruvian cooking this winter, where you can learn the sizzling secrets of the pros.Andina Restaurant has received rave reviews in our local papers for authentic Peruvian food and fusion techniques. This winter, its team of chefs will teach two fun, hands-on classes in the restaurant’s kitchen – offering students the opportunity to create unique dishes, sample exotic flavors, and learn a bit about the culture of Peru. Language enthusiasts get an extra bonus: the class will be taught in both Spanish and English.The first one-day class, Peruvian Cooking I at Andina, will feature authentic traditional recipes on Saturday, Jan. 31. Students will want to follow up with another one-day class on Saturday, Feb. 7: Peruvian Cooking II at Andina, focusing on the emerging Nuovoandina cuisine, and blending international techniques with indigenous ingredients.Both classes will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Andina Restaurant, 1314 N.W. Glisan St. Cost is $35 for each class. "We are so excited to offer this class that most of our own programming staff is planning to sign up for it,"said PCC Community Education manager Ann Carlsmith.
