Relationship lectures reveal keys to success

PORTLAND, Ore. – Whether in a current relationship or looking to begin a new one, there are three "must-knows"for creating lasting success – that’s the message of an upcoming non-credit lecture series, offered by Portland Community College.Local therapist Joseph Kurtright will lead the three-part Relationship Readiness Series this spring, in a supportive, interactive environment. The lectures will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, April 22 through May 6, at Lincoln High School, 1600 S.W. Salmon St. Cost is $40 for the complete series or $17 per individual lecture. Topics are as follows:The Past is Here Now (April 22). Discover how the past is really the present when it comes to relationships and life experiences. Then examine how you can use that information to make changes in yourself now.Equipping Yourself for a Relationship (April 29). An important component to any relationship is understanding which habits make us most effective as people. Join this discussion to learn the difference between "shared power"and "power plays."Understand, Evaluate, Change, Communicate Expectations (May 6). How do you form and express your expectations of others and of yourself? Discover how important and difficult communication is in relationships.
