Earn mediation certification in PCC seminar

PORTLAND, Ore. – From the international political scene to today’s office environment, conflict-resolution skills are a hot commodity. Portland Community College can prepare you to play a pivotal role in dispute resolution through a professional certification course in mediation.Mediation Training: Professional Seminar will prove why this discipline is the single most powerful tool in the alternative dispute resolution movement. Students will learn how even seemingly impossible disagreements can be overcome with the right communication and negotiation techniques. Professional mediator Tsipora Dimant will lead this intense training program which earns participants a certification of completion, recognized by employers."It’s not easy to establish a safe environment in which people feel free to express themselves without the threat of personal attack,"says Dimant. "This training program can teach you these highly sought-after skills so that, no matter what unexpected twists arise, you can mediate a heated situation toward a win-win solution." The non-credit training program will include six sessions taking place as follows:Thursday, May 1, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.; Friday, May 2, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 3, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday, May 9; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 10, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Sessions will be held at the Friendly House Community Center, 26th and N.W. Thurman Streets. Cost is $445 and includes a completion certification.
