Summer is a Great Time to Begin Novel Adventure

PORTLAND, Ore. – Instead of lugging a stack of someone else’s novels on vacation with you this summer, take along your own manuscript. Portland Community College can help you get that novel you’ve always been wanting to write off the ground with two fiction writing courses in June and July.Fiction Fundamentals, taught by Myrna Oakley, will get participants started writing and working like pros with tips for creating characters, story lines, plots and dialogue. The Advanced Fiction Workshop will help writers refine scenes, enhance characters, deepen plots and story lines, and market their work like pros.Fiction Fundamentals will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, June 25 through July 30; and the Advanced Fiction Workshop will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, June 26 through July 31. Both non-credit classes will be held at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center, 6651 S.W. Capitol Highway. Cost is $52. For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-731-6692.
