Rock Creek Student Artists Share Visions of Washington County

Photos and Story by

The Washington County Historical Society will feature the art of Portland Community College Rock Creek Campus students in a show on the historical and present-day splendor of Washington County. The show, featuring student art in "hangable" mediums, will start with an artists’ reception on May 20 and run through the end of July.

The student showing is the second part of a four-part exhibit titled "Past and Present Echoes of This Far Off Sunset Land," a show in the context of the Washington County Historical Society’s book about the history of Washington County, "This Far Off Sunset Land." The remaining exhibits will feature photography and student art from other colleges and universities in Oregon.

The May 20 reception for PCC student artists will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Washington County Historical Society Museum, which is located on the Rock Creek Campus, 17705 N.W. Springville Road.

For more information on the student show or the Washington County Historical Society, call Barbara Doyle at 645-5353. For information on the students themselves and their art, call Mark Andres at 614-7248, ext. 3957.
