PCC Medical Assisting Program Top Three in the Nation

Photos and Story by

Results from the recent licensing certification examination taken by graduates of the Portland Community College program in Medical Assisting have placed the college among the top three programs in the nation.

The college is ranked on each of the three parts of the examination according to students’ scores. PCC ranked 99 percent in the general category; 98 percent in the clinical section and 99 percent in the administrative category.

All 21 of the PCC Medical Assisting graduates who sat for their national certification recently passed the exam, according to Susan Williams, department chair.

"We are extremely pleased with these excellent results," Williams said.

The rankings are taken from scores from 173 similar college programs across the country where five or more students were examination candidates.

Each fall, 24 students are accepted into the Cascade Campus program.
