Men of Color Leadership Program

What is the Men of Color Leadership Program (MoCLP)?

The Men of Color Leadership Program (MoCLP) is a student leadership program sponsored by the Multicultural Centers at Portland Community College. It is offered in collaboration with the College Success & Career Guidance Department.

The core purpose of the MoCLP is to increase the recruitment, retention, and completion rates of men of color enrolled at PCC. We create an atmosphere of unity and community, promoting academic excellence, connecting students to campus resources, and engaging participants in social justice education.

What Does the MoCLP Offer Participants?

The Men of Color Leadership Program combines college credit courses with student development resources.

  • Participants can earn up to 7 free credits, specifically noted as 7 tuition-free transferable credits.
  • The program offers support in applying for scholarships and internships, and students can receive guidance throughout this process.
  • The curriculum includes content relevant to academic success, career planning, and developing professional competence.

Cohort classes support knowledge and skill building around various topics including:

  • Academic success
  • Demystifying and navigating college demands and expectations
  • Men’s health and wellness
