NIEA Mini-Grants

Each year, Northwest International Education Association (NIEA) awards mini-grants for faculty who submit proposals for internationalization of curriculum. The award applications are usually due in the spring, in April or May.

The purpose of the NIEA mini-grants is to encourage faculty to internationalize their curriculum. These grants are intended to assist faculty in designing new courses, making comprehensive revisions to existing courses, or adding modules or activities to existing courses.

In 2018, PCC became a member of NIEA and the mini-grant opportunity was advertised. The good news was that four PCC faculty applied, and all four were awarded the mini-grants during this first-year membership!

The 2020 round of mini-grant applications included the following categories:

  • Organizing a new interactive international activity that can be replicated $500
  • Adding a new unit to an existing course $900
  • Complete revision of an existing course* $1,250
  • Development of a whole new course* $1,500

* These would require prior approval of the Curriculum Committee at PCC.
