The prompt for this piece was "Peace". I wanted to capture the feeling of being embraced by someone who you love, and someone who loves you wholeheartedly. The halos and gold jewelry hearken back to old christian iconography, creating that sense of divinity and joy. I also painted two women in an embrace, because, as a queer woman, one of my goals as an artist is to elevate queer intimacy, and non-normative bodies to divinity.
