This is a painting in which I was tasked to paint animals on a large scale. I decided to paint my two dogs, Rex and Barney. I wanted to paint a dignified picture of my dogs because I wanted to honor them while they are still in my life. I put them close together to show their affectionate bond as adopted brothers. I chose to incorporate a wide variety of hues to express my artistic style and to capture their characters visually.

The painting shows a warm forest scene on a summer's day. There is a dirt path that starts in the foreground and swerves right before disappearing off to the left in the background. There is a shabby wire fence that follows the dirt path. There are a few dark figures of tall sparse trees in the foreground, and many of the same trees in the background. From the top right, sunlight cascades through the trees in the foreground which create beautiful long shadows in the bottom left foreground.
