Training

Safety training at PCC begins during new employee onboarding, with an employee’s first week of employment, and continues with additional training topics depending on an employee’s job duties. Managers can review the Health & Safety Manual Chapter 1 training charts for Academic and Operational departments to confirm which training topics they assign to their employees.

New Training

EH&S is happy to announce that a new training is in PCC’s learning management system. Stormwater Protection has been developed to provide key information about activities that impact stormwater, risks to stormwater systems and their controls, as well as department activities that protect stormwater. It is recommended that any departments that have outdoor activities or work that impacts stormwater management systems complete this training.

EH&S has revised and updated the Contractor Hazard Notification training. This update includes more guidance on the process of reviewing hazards and controls with contractors and vendors who work on PCC properties.

Also available now in PCC’s learning management system, the Safe Lifting & Material Handling training course is now available in Chinese, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Employee Training Resources

PCC provides accommodation for employees who experience disabilities to ensure all are able to participate in employment-related activities. Please make requests for accommodation by emailing adacoordinator@pcc.edu or calling 971-722-5869 at least five (5) working days before the date of need.

Manager Training Resources

EH&S has developed a curriculum for all PCC managers, Management Resources for Environmental Health & Safety Compliance. This new management safety “toolbox” has been developed to support PCC’s organizational efforts to build an environment of preparedness and employee well-being.

Managers should use the New Employee Department Safety Checklist to review department-specific hazards with their employees. The checklist is available in Chinese, English, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
