Limited English Proficiency Testing Procedure
Overview
According to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, agencies that receive federal funds must guarantee their programs and activities provided in English are accessible to students with Limited English Proficiency (LEP).
Portland Community College provides testing adjustments for students with Limited English Proficiency to make sure they have the time they need. This is not a disability related process.
Directions for Students
Students Self-Identify
Step 1
Fill out this form if you are a student who is running out of time on exams or quizzes due to Limited English Proficiency.
Accessible Ed Prepares Letter
Step 2
After you fill out the form Accessible Ed will reach out to answer questions and prepare your letter. The letter will be emailed to your PCC address.
Students Notify Instructors
Step 3
Once you have the letter you can use it in each of your classes as needed.
- Email it at least 1 week before a quiz or test.
- Attach your letter to your email.
- Instructors will either proctor directly or use the Testing Center.
