Course Description

Explores the evolution of landscape design from ancient civilizations to contemporary practices. Examines the cultural, social, and environmental influences that have shaped landscapes throughout history. Examines contemporary landscape design in relation to historical styles and the key figures who have played a significant role in shaping the field. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

1. Identify and describe major periods and styles in the history of landscape design.

2. Analyze the historical contexts that influenced landscape design practices.
