Course Description

Introduces models of interpreting and decision making. Discusses the underlying process of interpreting and making ethical decisions in relation to interpreting.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students will be able to:

  • Describe and compare interpreting process models.

  • Describe current and historical legislation that impact the field of interpreting.

  • Describe common demands and controls seen within the field of interpreting.

  • Make ethical decisions by applying Demand-Control Schema and other models to given scenarios. 

Course Activities and Design

Activities include readings, lectures, student-led discussions, and ethical analysis.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

Students will be evaluated through homework assignments, and quizzes.
