Details about this class

Welcome to WR 121! In our class, we'll use a growth mindset model to actively learn, make mistakes, and revise coursework. My goal is to give you a safe space to apply rhetorical concepts across multiple writing genres.

Mistakes are encouraged! You will struggle with new concepts, but that struggle is how our brains create new neural pathways and grow. As your learning mentor, I'll be there to give you resources, tips, and feedback to help you on your learning journey.

Course Modules:

This course introduces rhetoric and composition skills through three project-based learning modules:

  • Module 1: Persuasive Letter

  • Module 2: Research & Multimodal Project

  • Module 3: Progress Report

To help us gain and develop the skills needed to accomplish each major project, we'll work on several supporting assignments to be completed before each major project.

Special Lab Option

If you are feeling "ify" about taking WR 121 and want a “softer start,” I encourage you to sign up for the CRN:15239 option. It means that you will register for both WR 121 (CRN: 15239) and WR 199B (a reading/writing support lab) at the same time (for a total of 5 credits).
