Details about this class
Welcome to PSY 201AZ - Introduction to Psychology 1! This class meets in person Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 PM until 3:50 PM. We will be meeting on Rock Creek campus, in building 5 in room 220. As this is an in person course, it is expected that students attend all class meetings; attendance and participation is a graded component! Additionally, attendance the first day of the course is required in order to stay enrolled in the course.
PSY 201 will provide you with an overview of psychological sciences with particular attention to perspectives of psychology, research methods, biological psychology, consciousness (including sleep and psychoactive drugs), sensation and perception, learning, intelligence, problem solving, and memory.
This course has several different graded assignments including written signature assignment papers (required as the course meets General Education requirements), homework quizzes with embedded videos, in-class open-note tests, and other assignments. We will also complete in class activities which will be incorporated into the attendance and participation grade.
All course materials (including the reading assignments and a copy of note slides) are posted within D2L Brightspace. All assignments, quizzes, and tests will be completed within the course's D2L shell. If you would like to see a video with a quick tour of a similar D2L page you may access that here - D2L PSY 201A Course Content Tour.
Technology
Although this class meets in person, every student will need to have access to a home computer with internet in order to complete assignments. Students who do not own a personal device may use the PCC Rock Creek computer lab or may be able to loan a laptop or chromebook out through the PCC library.
