I update it each term, so some of it will be specific to the current academic term but many details will stay the same across terms.

• I use labor-based grading in my courses, which means that the grade you earn is up to you and the amount of work you decide to complete. While there are requirements and standards for your work, if you meet them then your work receives credit. There are due date requirements, but partial credit is available for assignments submitted past the due date.

I typically modify my syllabi from one term to the next, but here is the Fall '25 version of PHL 202. It will probably undergo some changes before Winter 2026, but should give you a sense of my teaching approach and (generally) how assignments and attendance work in our course. Note: the sample syllabus is for a regular in-person course with two weekly class meetings; the online version of this course (combining scheduled and no scheduled meetings) will have the same assignments and content but a different workflow schedule.
