Welcome to MTH 58.  To begin with, you MUST have an ALEKS360 account to do the online homework for this class.  The best way to ensure you have the correct product is to purchase the book and ALEKS bundled together through the bookstore.  When you buy the book, do not lose the paperwork inside, that has your code to access ALEKS.  Also, before you unwrap the textbook (it is loose leaf, or unbound) get a 3 ring binder to put it in so you do not lose pages.

This class is NOT a remote learning course and will be meeting Face to Face for In-Person Learning all term. A big part of Math 58 and 98 is students working together in small groups during our class meetings. You are expected to attend the class meetings regularly and contribute productively to your group's work.  Part of the goal of the Math 58 and 98 sequence is to help you develop a growth mindset. Instead of saying "I can't do this..." and giving up, you say "I can't do this... yet!" and keep working.  I look forward to meeting and working with each of you in the upcoming term.

Technology

You MUST have an ALEKS360 account to do the online homework and quizzes for this class.  In addition to that we will have some assignments on Desire to Learn (D2L) and/or using Google Sheets (or Excel).

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
