Details about this class
Welcome to MTH 58.
I am looking forward to working with you as we learn some fun and interesting concepts in math. Below are some important details about our class that you should know before the term begins.
To begin with, you MUST have an ALEKS360 account to do the online homework for this class. The best way to ensure you have the correct product is to purchase the book and ALEKS bundled together through the bookstore. Another big part of Math 58 is students working together in small groups during our class meetings. You are expected to attend the class meetings regularly and contribute productively to your group's work.
This class does not follow a traditional lecture-only format and instead requires you to be an active participant in your learning by discovering patterns and thinking critically. I will help guide you through the activities, assist with questions, and hopefully raise questions/critical thoughts as well.
If you have accommodations through Accessible Ed & Disability Resources at PCC, please contact me so we can discuss your specific accommodations and how I can best support you.
If you have any questions or concerns about virtually proctored exams, please feel free to contact me.
Technology
You MUST have an ALEKS360 account to do the online homework and quizzes for this class. In addition to that we will have some assignments using Google Sheets (or Excel).
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
Students with disabilities
Students with disabilities should notify their instructor if accommodations are needed to take this class. For information about technologies that help people with disabilities taking Online based classes please visit the Disability Services website.
