Details about this class
I have taught U.S. history at PCC-Rock Creek since 2018, and am look forward to teaching at PCC-Cascade for the first time. In this class, we will cover early U.S. history by exploring topics like colonial contact, European colonialism, Indigenous resistance, capitalism, slavery, the American Revolution, early state formation, the early republic, the rise of party politics, the rise of Jacksonian democracy, and Indigenous removal. I am still working on crafting a syllabus for the term, but half of the coursework will consist of a project in which students learn the skills of a historian through project work. This will give students the opportunity to pursue their own historical interests. The other half will consist of an in-class midterm and final exam in which students will have access to notes.
I like to foster an engaging, inclusive, and enjoyable classroom in which questioning and discussion is encouraged. You do not need to purchase any extra materials to take this class.
Technology
There is no additional technology required for this class.
