Details about this class

Hi, I'm Sarah Coffer. I'm excited to be your Level 5 Writing teacher this winter. This will be a fun class to explore writing! We will learn to write better sentences, stronger paragraphs, and by the end of the term, we will put it all together to write a short essay. We will write about interesting topics. We will study grammar, vocabulary, and composition. I think you will find the class helpful and enjoyable.

You do not have to buy a book for this class. You do not have to print the OER materials before the class begins. I am currently working on a revision of the Harmony textbook that we will use in class. You will be able to print the new, revised textbook called Symphony from D2L or purchase a bound copy from the PCC bookstore once the class begins. You have money to print with on your student account in the library, or the bound copy will be relatively low cost from the bookstore. I will let you know the first week of class.

If you have any more questions, feel free to email me: sarah.coffer@pcc.edu.

Technology

You will need to be able to use your PCC email for communication. You will need internet access. You will use Google Docs for writing. You will use D2L for homework. You will need to be able to watch and listen to videos online. If you do not have these things at home, you can borrow them from the library or use the computer lab on campus. Sarah will show you how to use them.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
