Meet your professor!
Hello everyone! My name is Dr. Velvet Cooley and I will be your instructor for this course. I have been in the Early Childhood field for over 35 years, serving in a variety of roles that have shaped my understanding of children, families, and high-quality learning environments. My journey has included work as a family home provider, private preschool teacher and director, after-school care director, Head Start teacher and Associate Director, and Chief Operating Officer for a nonprofit children’s council. I now serve as the Director of the Child Development Center on the Sylvania campus.
Each of these experiences has deepened my passion for supporting young children and the educators who guide them. I am truly excited to share what I have learned with you and to support your growth as future early childhood professionals. I look forward to learning alongside you!
