Details about this class
ECE200 is a highly participatory class and weekly attendance on camera is required. Students are expected to actively participate in class discussions and activities, as well as complete assignments to prepare for class and have questions ready in advance to learn more about guests and their organizations.
In The Professional in Early Childhood Education, we will explore our role as ECE professionals, as well as how we can advance the professionalism of the field. As Early Childhood educators, we bring out the best in children by bringing out the best in ourselves. We have the benefit of several guests from the early childhood community and organizations, demonstrating the depth of work happening in the field, as well as the many career opportunities. You will be expected to participate in this class as an early childhood professional and held to professional standards throughout.
Students will create a professional Folio over the course of the term, gain greater understanding of the Code of Ethics, and explore our own personal roles as leaders and advocates for children and the profession.
Technology
ECE200 meets remotely via Zoom. Students are required to be on camera during class. Students will need a microphone and webcam, as well as to download Zoom on their device. A computer (or tablet) is recommended to more easily access course materials while participating in group discussions and break out groups.
