Details about this class
Class Meetings
This course meets fully in-person for two weekly lecture meetings and one weekly laboratory meeting.
During lecture, we will discuss the weekly material along with some in-class practice. Lecture slides, study guides, and suggested external videos will be provided on the class website to help guide your review of the material. Assessments will include exams and weekly assignments.
During the weekly laboratory, you will learn lab and microscope skills, plus reinforce our lecture material. Weekly lab assessments include a pre-lab, post-lab, microscope practice, and in-person quiz.
Attendance
Midterms and final exams are in-person and taken during the lecture class. Attendance at non-exam lectures is expected and it is the responsibility of non-attending students to find out what they have missed.
BI 112 laboratory attendance is required and students who miss more than two labs will receive a 0% for the lab portion of the overall grade. The lab assessments are 30% of the overall grade.

The online resource, Modified Mastering Biology, is optional. An access code is included with the purchase of a new textbook from the PCC bookstore.
A heads up that you can also purchase Modified Mastering Biology with an etext. The etext can be used instead of a physical textbook.
