Details about this class

G 200G introduces you to the geology of the Columbia River Gorge through a combination of an online meeting and an in‑person field trip. This is a 1‑credit course that meets twice. Our first meeting will take place on Zoom on Wednesday, June 24, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. During this session, we’ll go over what to expect on the field trip and review any materials you’ll need.

The second meeting is an all‑day field trip on Friday, June 26. We will meet at the PCC Southeast campus at 8:00 AM and return to the same location by 6:00 PM. Transportation will be provided in a PCC van. Throughout the day, we will visit several sites in the Columbia River Gorge to explore the landscape and examine different types of rocks. Some stops may include short hikes of less than a mile on maintained trails. Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring your own lunch, snacks, and water or other drinks, as food will not be provided. More detailed information about the trip will be shared during the Zoom meeting. Other than bringing your own food, there are no additional costs for this field trip. Students of all abilities are welcome, and accommodations will be provided as needed.

G 200E is a 1‑credit course that is set up as pass/no‑pass by default. If you would prefer to receive a letter grade, you will need to change your grade option through the Registrar’s Office. Instructions for doing this can be found at https://www.pcc.edu/student-records/grade-options/. Please make any changes before our first meeting.

We look forward to exploring the Gorge with you and learning together in the field.
