Details about this class

Hello! We will be workshopping TWO of your short stories, any genre, any style, 6-12 pages! In addition, I wish to showcase a broad variety of styles along four quadrants: Realism, Magical Realism, Fantasy/Sci-Fi, and Horror. We will explore where these categories overlap and challenge ourselves to experiment with various forms!

I have several chapters from prominent fiction craft texts to share as a free resource as well.

Emphasis on community building and open-mindedness for peer support! As a result, attendance will be crucial, though exceptions and make-up can be allowed for any excused absences (up to 4).

Possible short story authors:

Jorge Luis Borges
Italio Calvino
George Saunders
Ursula LeGuin
Octavia Butler
Susanna Clarke
Bobby Ann Mason
