Details about this class

Students will need to use a composition notebook. It should be a composition notebook, not a larger kind.

We have two textbooks available from the SE PCC Bookstore, a novel called Sula, by Toni Morrison, and a new book of poems by Joan Naviyuk Kane called With Snow Pouring Southward Past the Window. All other class readings will be handed out in class, or linked through D2L. We will use a free online text as our composition reference.

We will write a variety of texts in this class, from low-stakes notebook responses to creative work (poems and stories) and critical responses, with an introduction to research methods and library resources. We will explore ways that writing and other communication methods are used not only in college, but also in workplaces. You will leave this class being able to write with greater clarity and greater complexity.

Technology

There is no additional technology required for this class.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
