Details about this class

Welcome to Spanish 102! This course has 2 required in-person meetings per week. We will spend much of our class periods practicing in pairs and small groups. We also make sure to incorporate lots of cultural learning activities, games, music, and fun!

When you register for SPA 102, I highly recommend you also register for SPA 112C

Why should you take SPA 112C?  This conversation class functions as the speaking laboratory where you will practice what you learn in SPA 102. Communication is the main goal of our SPA program, and 102 + 112C is the perfect combination to develop your communicative skills. The one-credit conversation course meets for 25 minutes right before your SPA 102 twice a week, and it’s taught by the same instructor. For this particular SPA 102 (CRN 23263), your recommended SPA 112C is CRN 23269, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30am-12pm.

Technology

Required technology for this course includes a computer with a reliable Internet connection, microphone, and webcam. If you have questions or concerns about the required technology, please contact your instructor. Platforms for this course include D2L Brightspace, and VHL Supersite (included in the textbook package sold through the PCC bookstore).

Please do NOT buy a USED textbook because it will not include the required code to the online platform, which costs more than the package available at the PCC bookstore. The same textbook/platform will be used in SPA 101-103, and no further purchase is required.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.

Students with disabilities

Students with disabilities should notify their instructor if accommodations are needed to take this class. For information about technologies that help people with disabilities taking Online based classes please visit the Disability Services website.
