Details about this class

Hello and welcome!

I'm Dr. Kelsey Kelley, and I'm so glad you're interested in my Human Development course! ☺️

Development is my specialty and absolute favorite topic to teach because it applies so directly to all of our lives and gives us a chance to explore big questions: Are we born with a sense of right or wrong? What determines our personalities? How do I know which parenting advice articles to trust? If any of these questions interest you, I hope to see you this term!

Do I need to buy anything to take this class?

No! This course uses 100% free, open-access materials. Online readings will be provided within D2L in place of an expensive, traditional textbook.

What does it mean for our class to be fully in-person?

Our in-person class meets two times a week (Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 to 3:50 p.m.) on PCC's Cascade Campus for a combination of lectures, demonstrations of psychological effects, fun videos, class discussions, and group activities. In addition to these meetings, you should expect to spend time outside of class completing assigned readings, studying, and submitting assessments.

So do I have to attend class meetings?

Our in-person meetings will be important to your success on class assessments, such as exams, and we will devote some time in class to activities that count toward your course grade. If you know you will not be able to attend class regularly you would be better served by a fully asynchronous online course.

More questions?

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me - I am happy to clarify anything and hope to see you this term!
