Details about this class

Hey there and welcome to Psychology of Human Relations! I am excited to get to know you all, please don't hesitate to reach out with questions: sarah.wheat@pcc.edu

-Sarah Wheat (she/her)

Human Subject Diversity Improves Genetics Research and Reduces Health Disparities

Our Course

In our course we are going to dive into the psychology of human relations. We'll be learning about how we interact with others, ourselves, and how to implement evidence-based skills for use in our current and future lives.

Attendance

Our course is in-person and meets two times per week on Southeastern campus (M/W 10:00am-11:50am). While attendance is expected, I know that life happens! In anticipation of this, there are make-up assignments you may complete to earn back the points from missed in-class activities when they occur.

Assessments

You will complete in-class activities, team quizzes, skills assessments, and weekly capstone questions! In recognition of our busy lives and life in the time of COVID-19, all late assignments will be accepted without penalty for 3-days after the due date, no questions asked! I am always open to extensions and encourage you to reach out for questions, help, or requests. In class, you will be working with a team to complete activities and quizzes. Be sure to communicate with your team when you miss class to get caught up :)

I look forward to getting to know you all!

*While there is no required textbook, there is a textbook you may be interested in gaining access to:

Last But Not Least!

While learning about our course will help you decide if this class is for you (which I hope it is), I wanted to share a bit about myself! My name is Sarah Wheat, and I've lived in 8 states including Oregon, New Mexico, Florida, and West Virginia! My master's degree is in Social Psychology (Ball State University) and my bachelor's degree is in Psychology with a Theatre minor (Briar Cliff University). I have two rabbits and love to travel, read and hike! I am always available to chat about those things as well as everything to do with psychology.

Technology

Our course is in person! We will meet on southeastern campus from 10:00am-11:50am on Monday's and Wednesday's. However, you will need access to D2L to engage with class materials and submit assessments. This means that you'll need a stable internet connection to communicate with your instructor and potentially other classmates outside of class time. Please let me know when you have issues with technologies!

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.

Students with disabilities

Students with disabilities should notify their instructor if accommodations are needed to take this class. For information about technologies that help people with disabilities taking Online based classes please visit the Disability Services website.
