Details about this class

Advance hiking will explore the trails of our beautiful Pacific Northwest.

We will be exploring longer and more advanced trails with elevation gain. Please be sure you are able to hike comfortably for a minimum of 6 miles on uneven terrain. There will be hikes of 10+ miles (not over 12).

We will begin with a mandatory safety and informative lecture. If you are not able to make it to this you will be dropped from the class.

This class will explore preparing for longer hikes, leave no trace principles, trail stewardship, and physical fitness to prepare for long hikes. We will also learn basic navigation skills, map reading, and hike planning.

We will have two online assignments (a reflection post and a trail stewardship project).

There will also be a syllabus quiz the first week of class.

This class is off campus for our hikes and transportation is not provided. You are required to have a way to the trailhead for our hikes. There may also be toll or parking fees required.

Please reach out if you have any questions (susan.milln@pcc.edu)
