Details about this class
A very warm welcome to all of you! I’m truly excited to work with you this session and look forward to a productive and engaging term together.
Please register for this class only if you are able to commit to attending regularly. Our in-person time will include guided note-taking, group activities, projects, quizzes, and interactive discussions. Your presence and participation are essential to your success in this course.
Plan to attend every class meeting. We will complete structured note sheets that align closely with your homework, work collaboratively in groups, and take quizzes during class time. All course materials and resources will be available once the session begins.
Attendance is integrated into class activities. If you are absent, a zero will be recorded for that day’s in-class work, as these activities must be completed and submitted in D2L at the end of class. Quizzes and exams are given during scheduled class time and cannot be made up due to absence. If you leave class early or do not actively participate, points may be deducted accordingly.
You are encouraged to engage with me and with your classmates — learning is more meaningful when we work together. Before each class, please review the readings and watch the YouTube links listed in the schedule. Coming prepared will help you feel confident and ready to practice homework-style problems during class.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Wishing you a successful and rewarding session ahead!
Technology
The homework is completed using the WebWork platform, so you will need access to a laptop or computer. Office hours are held on Zoom; therefore, a microphone and webcam are required. For graphing purposes, you will also need the Desmos calculator app.
Thanks.
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
Students with disabilities
Students with disabilities should notify their instructor if accommodations are needed to take this class. For information about technologies that help people with disabilities taking Online based classes please visit the Disability Services website.
