Details about this class

Q: Will I have to come to campus to take an exam?

A:  Yes, this class meets twice per week in person on the SE Campus and we will have 2 in-person proctored, closed-notes, closed-book exams during class:  a Midterm & a Final Exam.

Q:  Will your class require the use of a textbook or purchased course materials?

A:  I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the Lecture Packet from the PCC Bookstore to help support your learning. The packet costs about $13 and can be paid for with financial aid. Shipping is free! To order, click on the "textbook" link in the course information, or go to the Bookstore from the MyPCC homepage.
The packet is about 100 pages and includes all the Class Notes & Group Work for our class meetings in person. Having a printed copy of this packet is very helpful to note taking and practicing the material in Algebra. For most students, writing the process out by hand is an essential step to mastering Algebra. Purchasing this packet is a great option because you do not need to print at home.

Q:  Are our on campus in-person meetings on Mondays & Wednesdays mandatory?

A:  Class participation counts for part of your overall grade.  Attending regularly is highly recommended to earn maximum points.  If you know you can't attend class meetings regularly, it might be best to look for a class that fits with your schedule and preferred learning style.

Q: How do I access the course?
A: Log into MyPCC. On the main webpage, in the Quick Links window on the left, you will see the link to access D2L.

Q: Is this course self-paced?
A: The course is not self paced. The pace is set by the instructor on the calendar so that students can learn at a comfortable steady pace in order to cover all the required material in an 11 week term.

Q: How is the material presented?
A: I will provide the student with in-class lectures, written material, videos, and online free textbook. You also have as a resource the textbook used for this course.

Q: Is there homework?
A: Yes, for every hour of class time, it's expected that students will complete two hours of work outside of class which will include a mix of WeBWork (our online homework system), worksheets, practice, group work and submitted assignments through D2L.
