Details about this class

MTH58 Math Literacy I

This is an on-campus, in-person class.  Attendance at Rock Creek Campus will be expected every class period. Each class will include significant time for group work and interactive collaboration. Active participation will be encouraged from all students.

MTH 58 and MTH 98 are parts of a two term sequence of introductory statistics and data presentation that use the same textbook, Pathways to Math Literacy, Soberki and Mercer, 2nd edition.  This is a workbook that contains many of our homework assignments.

You will need to purchase a NEW textbook with a ALEKS MATH CODE from the bookstore. You may NOT use an e-book, used book, borrowed book or rented book. They do not come with the code for the online homework system which is required to pass this course.

Questions:  Judi.armstrong15@pcc.edu

Technology

We will do homework assignments in Excel as part of our course.  These are done together in class.  These are simple, introductory activities that can only be submitted using the Excel program.  I have a link posted in D2L where PCC students can download Microsoft Word and Excel for free.  If you have a Chromebook you will not be able to download Word/Excel but we are in a computer classroom and students may use those computers for Technology/Excel assignments.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.

Students with disabilities

Students with disabilities should notify their instructor if accommodations are needed to take this class. For information about technologies that help people with disabilities taking Online based classes please visit the Disability Services website.
