Details about this class

Welcome to JPN 203! | Second Year Japanese - Third Term

In this course you will continue learning to speak, read, write and understand Japanese. We have synchronous class meetings using Zoom on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 - 3:20 PM. You can access our course site and our Zoom meetings by going through D2L Brightspace - the learning platform that all courses use at PCC.

During our synchronous meetings it is important that you turn your webcam on so that we can work together as a class and so that I can help you continue learning to speak Japanese well. At these meetings there will be whole class work, as well as a lot of small group work. As you know, learning language works best when people get to know and trust one another - this can be challenging, but also very rewarding!

In addition to our synchronous meetings, you will also have work that you will complete asynchronously on your own time, like homework and quizzes. I also will offer office hours where we can meet one-on-one so that I can help and answer your questions.

You can find out more about the course policies and what we’re going to do this term by checking out the sample syllabus, course calendar & homework schedule. Also, you can take a look at my self-introduction video!

I am excited to continue working with you this spring!!

Technology

You will need a computer or laptop with internet access, as well as a microphone and webcam for this course. While you may be able to access some of the materials for the course using a smartphone, it is difficult to participate in synchronous Zoom class meetings using a smartphone.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.

Students with disabilities

Students with disabilities should notify their instructor if accommodations are needed to take this class. For information about technologies that help people with disabilities taking Online based classes please visit the Disability Services website.
