Details about this class
This is primarily a hands-on class where students build a small bench by laminating three butcher block style panels, one for the top and two for the legs. Most of the work is done with power tools. Self-expression is encouraged through modifying size, laminations, edge contours and profiles, cut-outs and more. Students are responsible for purchasing the wood and finishing oils for their project. Depending on the species selected and the size of the bench, cost for materials can range from $60 to several times that. The complexity of design and one's woodworking experience will substantially influence how much time outside of class is necessary to complete the bench. Plan one to three hours of extra shop time per week. This is a class where all people and all skill levels are encouraged and supported. Build beauty, friendships, and community. No textbooks required.
