Details about this class

This field trip class will introduce you to the geology of the Portland, Oregon, area. Several field trip stops, all accessible by public transportation and walks of easy to moderate difficulty, will allow you to investigate geologic features and materials that reveal nearly 20 million years of Portland’s geologic history.

Students are required to attend a two hour Zoom meeting on Thursday, April  4th from 7pm to 9pm.  Information about the field trip including specific details on what to bring including a bag lunch, where to meet, and how to succeed will be provided at this mandatory meeting.

The actual field trip is on Saturday, April 6th and will start at 8:00 am at Jackson Hall Room 100 at Cascade Campus and end back at Cascade Campus by 5 pm.

Be prepared for several hikes, the longest being 1.5 miles with 500 feet of elevation change. 

This 1 credit course is designed to be taken as a pass/no pass credit.  If students prefer to take it for a letter grade they need contact the instructor.

Technology

Students will need a webcam with a microphone or some other technological means to attend the informational Zoom meeting on Thursday, April 4th.  

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
