Details about this class

This is a hybrid class. A portion of the class will be delivered online and a portion is delivered on campus in a physical classroom.

Introduces mechanisms that translate motion and force, including cams, gears, belts/pulleys, and chains/sprockets. Introduces components such as pawls ratchets, linkages, and levers. Covers the creation of drawings for stock (shelf) items and custom designs.

Lectures will be up to 2 hours a week during class.  Additional self study content shall be done during the week between class sessions in addition to assignments, quizzes and projects given weekly. 

For most weekly projects students may use the CAD program of their choice, although some projects will require the exclusive use of Solidworks due to the features/tools being demonstrated.

  • You must be able to work with documents and upload to Assignments in D2L. Directions to use Google Drive in D2L.
  • The technical requirements for most online classes include access to a computer with a modern operating system and a supported web browser
  • Access to Solidworks, Inventor, or Fusion360 software

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
