Details about this class

This is a Remote Course, Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.

This is a new course for the Criminal Justice program. It has been instructed prior, but not for many years. It is best suited for in-person, but PCC is not allowing for many in-person courses due to enrollment numbers. However, I will do my best to provide for an interactive course.

The course will have lecture, required student participation, assignments and a term paper. Since this is a new course, I may need to make adjustments as the term progresses. Any changes will be communicated in D2L and via email with enough notice for the students. In my courses, I do not have a large mid-term and the final will be the term paper. It will be more of a course reflection relying on the term materials. I will take attendance each week and students receive credit for their attendance.

Book: ETHICAL DILEMMAS AND DECISIONS IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE 11th edition - Pollock

Normally I recommend students use the prior edition to save on costs, but I have not used this book before,

Technology

CJA299K - Intro to Criminal Justice Ethics. This is a Remote Course, Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.

What is a remote course? It is not a fully online course. A remote course is instructed via Zoom and has a specific day and time the class is instructed. This will require that you have access to a internet enabled device that will support the latest version of Zoom. You will also be required to be on camera and be able to communicate (microphone) during the instructional period. This is necessary because students have previously joined the Zoom session, with camera off and walked away.

Remote courses will also require that you plan to attend at the same day and time each week. Please consider this requirement prior to registering for this course.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
