you can purchase your textbook through the zyBooks publisher's website. All CIS 121 Info Systems and Programming sections use the same textbook and this textbook is required for doing assignments.

This is a remote class with two zoom session lectures per week.  The lectures are on Monday and Wednesday from 11:00AM to 11:50AM. These sessions are strictly lectures that will be recorded and there is no attendance requirement.

Office hours are done via private zoom sessions. Private sessions can be scheduled via a Calendly link. See instructor info box and syllabus for the link.

Technology

Required Hardware
In addition to having access to a computer that can run the required software, you need to be able to record audio and video (screencast) to your laptop for one assignment and your final presentation.

Required Software
Windows 8.1, 10, or 11. Can also use a macOS or Linux system but will need to complete some assignments using a online Windows environment.

Microsoft Office (including Access) OR any other office software that opens docx files.

Web browser (like Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, or Safari)
Zip program (normally included in your operating System)
Text Editor like Brackets or NotePad++
Diagram Software like Visio, or draw.io (a web-based one, like Lucidchart, is fine too)
Pycharm Edu or Pycharm with EDU Tools plug in

All the above software is available for free.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
