Details about this class
Course Description:
Chemistry 223 is the third of a three term, 15-credit hour (5 hours/term), chemistry sequence designed to provide a year of general chemistry to science majors. It will meet transfer school requirements for such science majors as: chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, pre-medicine, and other pre-professional programs. The class consists of lecture, and laboratory. The lecture time is used to provide the student with basic chemical concepts and mathematical applications to chemistry. The laboratory re-enforces concepts presented in lecture and provides the student a hands-on opportunity to explore these.
Prerequisites: CH 222 or CH 222H. Audit available.
Students should reasonably expect to spend a minimum of 15 hours per week outside of class on this course. Learning chemistry is like learning a foreign language and requires a lot of time and effort on the student’s part.
Textbook and Materials (Required):
The textbook comes in a digital or print format. Both the digital and print copy come with an online homework code. If you have already purchased this textbook and need the Smartwork, the online homework, code you may purchase it through the PCC Bookstore or from the publishers website.
