Details about this class

Thank you for considering this course!

Both the lab and lecture for this course are in-person at the Rock Creek Campus.  We will meet in-person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am-11:50 pm (lecture) and on Tuesdays from 12:30 pm-3:20 pm (lab). You need to be able to attend both lecture and laboratory components in order to register for the course.

Lecture and lab sessions will be interactive and designed to help learning and measure understanding.  This information will be used to guide the speed of content and delivery methods.  Therefore, student participation will be key to instruction.  Because lecture and lab sessions are in person, there will not be zoom recordings of the classes. Lecture slides will be posted on the class website in D2L.

This class will include completing in-class group problem-solving activities, clicker questions, hands-on laboratory experiments, lecture and lab homework assignments, weekly quizzes, a mid-term exam and a final exam. Office hours will be available in person, and in Zoom.

Homework will be completed using the Modified Mastering Chemistry (MMC) platform. Temporary access to the MMC platform, which includes an electronic copy of the text, will be provided for the first two weeks while you determine the best purchase option for you. Please wait until after the first day of class to purchase anything. The access code for MMC that includes an electronic copy of the textbook can be purchased directly from the publisher at a lower price than from the bookstore. I will provide additional information on the first day of class.

Please do not purchase any Modified Mastering Chemistry access codes online (from Amazon or other online sources). These codes will not allow you to register for this PCC CH 104 course.

I will contact enrolled students by email near the beginning of the term with more information on the course. You may contact me at  danijela.vukic15@pcc.edu for more information. I look forward to working with you to build a strong chemistry foundation!
