Details about this class
Thank you for your interest in BI 121 - Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology Part 1. I look forward to meeting you and being your guide through Intro to Human A&P :) This course surveys anatomical terminology, basic chemistry, cell structure and function, tissues, and the following systems: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous.
PLEASE do not buy textbooks:
- For lecture, we use this FREE OpenStax textbook.
- For lab, we use this FREE Bi 121 Lab Success Guide
This course is a hybrid course that was built using the Universal Design Principle. Much of your learning in the lecture will be self-guided. There are pre-recorded student-guided lessons with embedded multiple-attempt pre-lecture homework assignments that you complete before we meet for application hour to solve problem sets together.
Andrew Chang instructs the laboratory. Lab meets weekly for hands-on learning activities, weekly lab quizzes, and a final lab project. There are also prerecorded lab lessons with multiple-attempt pre-lab homework assignments for you to complete for practice before or after the lab meeting.
These are the weekly meetings:
- The laboratory meets Tuesdays for approximately 3 hours in Jackson Hall 110.
- The lecture content is posted online and we meet twice a week to apply the content:
- Tuesdays for 1 hour 20 minutes minutes in Jackson Hall 102 and
- Thursdays for 1 hour 20 minutes over Zoom.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at rachel.thwing@pcc.edu. I look forward to learning A&P with you :)
