Details about this class
This course is a 5 credit lecture/lab course w/two instructors.
Please budget your time to spend a total of 15-18hr/week on learning in this course. This includes attendance as well as homework, studying, reading, and generally engaging in the work needed for successful learning. The learning time requirement is in alignment with the formal credit requirements for this course.

Lecture requirements
Attendance via Zoom in scheduled class meetings is required for the lecture part of the course. Josephine Pino is the lecture instructor.
Active participation via Zoom in scheduled class meeting is required. This will include discussions with peers and with the instructor.
You will have an option to purchase Campbell Biology in Focus, or to use Biology 2e (Openstax) book. Please obtain your books and be ready to use them on Day 1.
Students will be required to watch lecture recordings and other videos and to access the world wide web.
Skillful use of Google Apps (Google Docs, Google Slides, especially) will be a requirement. Please review using available PCC resources as needed.
Lab requirements
Attendance on campus is required for the lab part of the course. Poulami Mitra is the lab instructor
You will use a PCC BI 112 lab manual for the lab part of the course.
Please obtain your lab manual and be ready to use in on Day 1.
Technology
Lecture is via Scheduled Zoom Meetings with Instructor Josephine Pino
Students will attend virtually for the lecture part of the course, using Zoom, so they must have a computer with a microphone. Camera is preferred, but not an absolute requirement.
Students will need to use Google Apps: Google Doc, Google Sheet, Google Slides and will need WiFi that is capable of supporting their participation during class time. Participation will include use of microphone and chat and collaboration in Google Docs, Slides, etc during class time in order to receive credit on various assignments.
Students will occasionally need to photograph items or drawings for uploading into assignments, so a digital camera, such as found in a smart phone is required as well.
Lab is via Scheduled on Campus Meetings with Instructor Poulami Mitra
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
